The tempo is barely there at 63 BPM, more heartbeat than beat, and I find myself waiting for pulse rather than pattern as the melodic lines unspool in 4B with the weightless patience of deep water. Mica’s sound design favours breath and friction over percussion; I feel the pads more than I hear them, each layer settling like dust on worn wood. It is music for rooms already emptied of urgency.
I would not drop this anywhere near a peak-time floor. At energy level one, it asks the listener to lean in rather than move, making it perfect for the 3 a.m. ambient room or the solitary headphone drift after the main floor has cleared. Those leftfield melodic touches keep it from pure wallpaper, but its real power is spatial: it clears corners, lowers ceilings, and insists on stillness as a kind of forward motion.
