The Ninja on this record

I keep this at arm’s length from the peak-time stack: at sixty-five BPM in five-B, it is less a track than a slow exhalation. Floating Points’ electronics thread a brittle gauze around the London Symphony Orchestra’s swelling chords, while Sanders colours the space in whispers. With energy locked at one, the piece does not build so much as deepen, each orchestral swell sinking into subaquatic hush.

I would not call it a dancefloor weapon; it is an after-hours meditation best deployed when the lights are up and the bodies still. It occupies the slot in my bag reserved for atmospheric recovery, a moment where the room itself seems to expand. Danceability is irrelevant here—it asks nothing of the floor except stillness, a gracefully weightless coda for any set brave enough to dissolve into silence.
