Maybe It's Broken

The Ninja · 7.9/10

I keep coming back to the way Jurango holds this at 146 BPM: urgent yet austere, letting Livity Sound’s signature low-end rattle through a framework that feels deliberately destabilised. The energy is high and unrelenting, but there is a cool, metallic restraint to the programming—like the track is stress-testing the soundsystem while barely breaking a sweat. Everything locks to a grid that seems to warp at the edges, suggesting malfunction without ever collapsing.

In my sets, this sits best as a pivot point: too propulsive for ambient decompression, too weirded-out for straight four-a.m. hammer. That 11A key lends a shadowy, introspective tint to the percussion, making those bass surges hit like sudden realisations rather than outright blows. It is the sound of a corner leftfield basement at peak humidity—functional, yes, but flecked with just enough unease to keep the floor alert.
