The Ninja on this record
The drums land at a steady 140, but the groove feels off-centre, as if the beat itself is orbiting a heavier core. Atrice keeps the low end thick and the hi-hats restless, letting the track tilt and sway without ever losing its forward pull. It is the sound of machinery with dirt under its nails, too rugged for pristine IDM yet too clever for straight four-four fodder.
At energy 9 and locked in 12B, this is a mid-set anchor that drags the room into sharper focus—dark, dry, and functional. I would slot it after something more euphoric to strip the air back down, letting the bass do the talking while bodies readjust to its gravitational tug. There is no excess; just torque, space, and a cold confidence that suits the Ilian Tape blueprint.
