Quoin

Running at 136 BPM with an energy of 10, this Dumb Unit release maintains a lean, aerobic tension that never slackens. The groove is stripped and functional, designed for the hollow hours when the floor has narrowed to a few determined bodies moving in half-light. There is little ornament; only a single-minded, tunneling pulse that pushes forward without deviation or relief.

Locked in the 4B key, the harmonic temperature stays cool and unresolved, letting the atmosphere smoulder rather than flare into melodrama. It is properly late-night material: not a crescendo, but the steady, unblinking stretch between three and five. I would slip it in after a more colourful record to peel the room back to bare concrete and sweat.
