The Ninja on this record

I keep this in my crate for the moments when a room needs its edges sharpened. At two hundred BPM, Ballast ought to feel like a panic attack, yet Objekt keeps the energy dialled to a curious six, more hypnotic centrifuge than club weapon. The rhythm moves in dense, interlocking plates of percussion that seem to hover rather than slam, creating a vertiginous forward motion that never quite settles into a conventional groove.

In a set, it functions like a refraction prism: I drop it when the floor is smart enough to handle leftfield electronica without handrails. The 12B key gives those metallic timbres a strange, almost luminous lift, but the real architecture is in the texture; every frequency polished and placed with singular precision, building a room inside the room that feels closer to avant-garde installation than dancefloor filler.
