Pots and Pans

The Ninja · 8.3/10

I did not expect a 115-BPM downtempo cut to hit with such bruising weight, yet the energy here is pegged at a relentless ten. Hot Pot drags the tempo through molasses, letting the groove smoulder in 4A’s minor-key haze while melodic fragments curl like smoke rings toward a low ceiling. Toko Records’ pedigree is audible in every restrained hi-hat and pad placement; this is the sound of a label that knows exactly after midnight its records get played.

In my sets, this is the bridge between warm-up and warp-speed, commanding hips without ever breaking into a sprint. The 115-BPM pulse lets me stretch a transition, giving the floor room to breathe while keeping tension screwed tight. It is tasteful, yes, but built for dark rooms where the lights stay low and the system stays loud.
