The Ninja · 8.4/10

The kick locks in at 133 with the kind of metronomic insistence that turns a club floor into a single breathing organism. There is a glossy sheen to the synthesis, but the energy is genuinely punishing—nine out of ten on my scale—so the melodic hooks never feel saccharine. Instead, they cut through the haze like strobes through dry ice, anchored in a minor key that keeps the euphoria teetering on the edge of dread.

This is where I would drop it: not the warm-up, but the moment when the room is already slick with sweat and needs a leftfield injection without losing momentum. The peripheral textures still carry that Ninja Tune leftfield sensibility, yet the structure is direct enough to function as a peak-time trance weapon. It walks the tightrope between credibility and accessibility better than most of the so-called underground pretenders manage right now.
