I drop this at seventy-one BPM and watch the room recalibrate, the C Major skeleton dragging through a tar pit of distortion and digital grit. The energy reads nine but it arrives horizontal, a psychedelic rock deconstruction that feels closer to AD 93’s mutant electronics than any traditional band format. Every element sounds slowed, cooked, and stretched until the groove curdles into something hypnotic and vaguely hostile.
In my sets it functions as a breather that isn’t actually breathable, the kind of leftfield detour that clears the floor before pulling the remaining bodies into its orbit. The lack of explicit danceability is the point: Hermitt and Alpha Maid build a room that sways rather than bounces, locking me into a half-speed trance that only makes sense after the third listen, ideally through a soundsystem heavy enough to render that low-end properly.
