At one hundred and thirty BPM in the shadowy register of 4A, this remix feels to me less like a conventional techno tool and more like an electro-tinged exorcism. I can hear Bootyspoon’s off-kilter fingerprints everywhere: the low-end moves with a squelching, metallic elasticity, while the top-end fizzes at an energy level of ten without ever collapsing into predictable four-four bombast. I find it lean, freaky, and ruthlessly effective.
This is a record I’d save for the thick of a basement hour when the crowd is loose enough to handle leftfield curveballs. It slots perfectly after brittle electro or before heads-down dub-techno, using its peak-time intensity to weld quirky hooks onto a steely, functional grid. To my ears, the result is exactly the kind of underground weapon that earns its place in my bag through sheer, unrelenting personality.
